i) Takahe Poetry Competition 2010: Closing Date 30 September 2010; Entry Fee: $5 per poem

First Prize: $250;    Second prize: $100;   Two runners up will receive one year’s free subscription to Takahe.
Unpublished poems up to 50 lines long on any theme will be accepted. Entry forms can be downloaded from the website: Each poem should be printed on one side of A4 and posted to: Takahe Poetry Competition 2010, PO Box 13-335, Christchurch, New Zealand.  (No email submissions.)

Results will be published in Takahe 71 (December) 2010.

(Please note: This notice indicates that only the results and not necessarily the winning poems will be published.  I have queried this with Takahe’s Poetry Editor who has indicated that the winning poems are usually published, but this is not necessarily guaranteed.)

The haikai pages – for Japanese verse forms – are proving extremely popular in Bravado, and are compiled  by guest editors,  For Bravado 20, it is the highly-respected and knowledgeable Nola Borrell.

NZ Poetry Society International Poetry Competition

To the poets – deadline for the NZ Poetry Society International Poetry competition is May 31st. Cash prizes and the chance to be published in their anthology.
